Preparing the Ground for Community Growth
Every successful commercial project begins long before the building takes shape.
For the new Fremont Federal Credit Union location in Fremont, Ohio, Vernon Nagel, Inc. is providing the site development and earthwork services that create the foundation for construction.
From preparing the site and installing critical underground infrastructure to managing complex grading, drainage, and phased construction, our team is helping ensure the project is built on a stable foundation that will serve the community for decades.
Projects like this demonstrate that quality construction starts below the surface, where careful planning, experienced crews, and precise execution make all the difference.

Building the Foundation
The new Fremont Federal Credit Union represents an investment in the future of the Fremont community. While the completed facility will provide modern banking services for years to come, every successful commercial project begins with quality site development and infrastructure.
Vernon Nagel's role is to prepare the site for everything that follows. From earthwork and underground utilities to grading and stormwater management, our team is creating the stable foundation needed to support long-term performance and keep construction moving forward.
Our work on this project includes:
Preparing the site for commercial construction
Installing underground utilities and supporting infrastructure
Improving long-term stormwater management and drainage
Creating a stable foundation for future construction
Coordinating site work to maintain an efficient construction schedule
Project Challenges
Every project presents unique challenges, and this one required careful planning, technical expertise, and continuous coordination.
One of the most significant challenges involved constructing the site's water feature pond. Due to the area's high water table and loamy sand soils, excavation and liner installation had to occur simultaneously while maintaining continuous well pumping. Disturbing these soil conditions can quickly reduce structural stability, making sequencing and execution critical to maintaining safe working conditions and protecting the finished product.
The project also requires three separate mobilizations over the course of construction. As each phase progresses, Vernon Nagel and Smith Paving are coordinating finish site work and concrete pavement through three major logistical shifts to keep construction moving efficiently while maintaining the overall project schedule.
Throughout the project, close coordination with Janotta & Herner and the other project trades has been essential to maintaining safety, minimizing disruptions, and keeping work moving forward.
